White House App Gives Augmented Tour

You won’t need a security clearance to get a tour of the White House with this free augmented reality app built by the White House Historical Association and Nexus Studios.

“1600” gives you a fun and interactive tour of the White House while learning about presidents, holidays, and major seasonal events like state arrival ceremonies and the Easter Egg Roll.

Check it out!  All you need is a tablet and a dollar bill to take the tour. When you are finished, your dollar goes back in your pocket. 🙂

Quiz, Quiz, Trade

Who says technology is the only method for getting kids involved in learning? Quiz, Quiz, Trade is a cooperative-learning technique that has students review information with other students by asking and answering questions. Working with peers in a nonthreatening manner builds confidence, encourages greater participation, and results in more thoughtful discussions.

Follow the Teacher Toolkit for more details.

Kahoot! Competition on Homophones

It was “Muffins With Moms” day and Mrs. Feggans, 5th grade teacher prepared a Kahoot! activity for everyone to take part in.
Students were very excited to share this with their special guests. It was a test of knowledge and speed as everyone’s competitive nature seemed to surface. It was noted that Graygray won the challenge – a very competitive Grandma (who, by the way, does not own a smartphone or tablet). Kudos Graygray! And Kudos Mrs. Feggans for engaging your class and their special guests with a fun, technology centered activity.
