Old Smartphones Wanted

If you have an old smartphone (android or iphone) that you are no longer in need of and you don’t know what to do with it, have we got use for them!
Bowling Green Elementary is collecting old smartphones for student use. We would like to outfit as many classrooms as we can with a one-to-one mobile wireless device to use throughout the year for interactive activities, informal assessments, and collaboration with peers. Donations can be sent to the main office and labeled for SANDERSON. Phones will be reset to factory default and joined to the guest network for student use. Thank you.

Kahoot! Competition on Homophones

It was “Muffins With Moms” day and Mrs. Feggans, 5th grade teacher prepared a Kahoot! activity for everyone to take part in.
Students were very excited to share this with their special guests. It was a test of knowledge and speed as everyone’s competitive nature seemed to surface. It was noted that Graygray won the challenge – a very competitive Grandma (who, by the way, does not own a smartphone or tablet). Kudos Graygray! And Kudos Mrs. Feggans for engaging your class and their special guests with a fun, technology centered activity.

Peanutize Me

peanut profile 500Peanutize Me – This was shared with me this morning so I am sharing it here. Cute site for creating a Peanut character of yourself. For fun, use it as a profile image or set it as wallpaper. Instructionally, I can see this being used for digital story writing. Students can design a few characters/scenes and then use them to create their own comic telling a story that contains the 5 story peanut wallpaper 700elements.

SeeSaw – The Digital Journal App

seesawLook what we’re doing with SeeSaw!  Second graders are being introduced to using the iPads and are given explore time while I work with students one-on-one for the first time in SeeSaw.  The smiles on their faces tell me this year long project is going to be a hit. And the best part is that it’s friendly, secure, and can be shared only with the teacher and the child’s parents. Students gain access to the app by scanning a QR Code that is unique to their class therefore student journal entries can only be made from school.
