Video Puppet – A Virtual Teaching Tool

Do you teach from PowerPoints? If you answered yes, then this resource may be of interest to you.

Video Puppet takes your existing PowerPoints and converts them to video making it easy to share with your students through a learning management system, however, the best part of Video Puppet is having your notes for each PowerPoint slide become the audio for that particular slide making your completed video appear as if you were talking through the entire video. You can select the audio output type in Video Puppet from a list of options.

To add the narration piece from your PowerPoint to the Video Puppet movie format requires your dialogue to be placed in the “Notes” section for each slide in PPT. To use Notes in PowerPoint, go to: View/Notes. The Notes section appears underneath each slide.

Frank Lloyd Wright Virtual Classroom

Developed by the educational department of Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation’s, his Virtual Classroom is a free online learning tool for K-12 students including engagement activities for families.

The Virtual Classroom combines real-world, fun lessons. Each STEAM focused lesson offers students its own variation of hands-on activities that build skills in critical thinking and creativity.

The 6 week series introduces a new lesson and corresponding video weekly, where one activity builds upon the other to culminate into a final project were the student creates a work of art.

Dualless Chrome Extension

Do you miss not having the capability of being able to split screens on your chromebook? Well, check out Chrome’s Dualless extension. This feature lets you choose a ratio for how you want your screen split. Once installed from the Chrome Web Store, you click on the Chrome extension in the top right corner of your Chrome browser, select your display setting, and you’ve got a dual-like monitor display. Love it! Got to have it!

For those who don’t have dual monitors, this extension is for you.

Jamboard by Google

Google Jamboard is a great tool that can be used as a digital whiteboard in a Google Meet session for teaching and collaborating with your students. For example, you want to work out a math problem to show the order of operations or you’re in a meeting to brainstorm or complete an activity together.

Jamboard has been approved by the technology department and opened for elementary use as part of the Google for Education Suite. With Jamboard, you can work together in real time, work within Google Drive, collaborate with any device, and host video meetings.
